School lunches should change

My name is Sahil Sharma, and I have been to Taylor for the past 2 years and I dislike the food that is served to students at Taylor. This letter is on behalf of me and why I think the school menu should be changed.
My first reason is that the school food is really unhealthy and it is not nutrious. Around 12.5 million kids in America that are from the ages of 2-19 are obese, and according to figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Another 16 percent or so are overweight and at risk of becoming obese. Obama said,” That for some students school food is the only thing they get” so if it’s the only food they are going to get then why can’t you improve it so it is healthier?
My second reason is that the food does not have enough nutrients. High school students must receive a minimum of 700 and a maximum of 850 calories in their lunches. For students in middle school, the range is 600 to 700 calories. That means that, for grades 9-12, the standard lunch includes a cup of fruit, a cup of vegetables, two ounces of a grain, two ounces of meat, and a cup of milk.

And at last third reason is that in the past three years, the government has provided the nation’s schools with millions of pounds of beef and chicken that wouldn’t meet the quality or safety standards of many fast-food restaurants, from Jack in the Box and other burger places to chicken chains such as KFC.

In conclusion I would like to state that each year 53 million American student eat the food served at school. School cafeterias violate a lot of school health issues. Because of this, this is one of the main reasons why students in America get sick easily. And health issues like diabetes, blood pressure and cardiac problems are rising in younger kids. At last but not least I also want to mention that food poisonings is common among school children. Proper food handling like temperature setting would help to lower this incident.
Thank You
From, Sahil Sharma
